Separating and connecting brake pedal and brake servo Separating brake pedal from brake servo   WARNING If possible, stop on brake pedal should always be left installed; otherwise mounting for brake light sensor could break off if brake pedal is released too abruptly. Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Release tool -T40168- for brake light sensor.

t  Release tool -T40136-

–  Remove driver's storage compartment -1 ... 3-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -C- on footwell vent. –  Remove footwell vent -A-B-. –  Remove brake light sensor → Chapter.

–  First press brake pedal towards brake servo and hold in this position. 1 -  Brake pedal 2 -  Push rod 3 -  Retaining lugs –  Insert release tool -T40136- as shown and pull towards driver's seat, at the same time holding brake pedal in position (the pedal must not move towards the rear). This will press the retaining lugs -3- of the mounting off the ball head of the push rod -2-. For illustration purposes, the method of separating the brake pedal from the brake servo is shown with the pedal cluster removed. –  Pull release tool -T40136- and brake pedal together towards driver's seat. (This will pull the brake pedal off the ball head of the push rod). Connecting brake pedal to brake servo

If possible, stop -17- on brake pedal must always be left installed; otherwise mounting for brake light sensor -10- could break off if brake pedal is released too abruptly.

–  Hold ball head of push rod in front of mounting and push brake pedal towards brake servo so that ball head audibly locks into place. –  Install brake light sensor → Chapter.

–  Install footwell vent -A-B-. –  Tighten bolt securing footwell vent -A-. –  Attach electrical connector to footwell vent -C-.

–  Install driver's storage compartment -1 ... 3-.
