Removing and installing brake pedal (vehicles with automatic gearbox) > < Separating and connecting brake pedal and brake servo

On vehicles with manual gearbox, the mounting bracket must be removed in order to remove the brake pedal.
–  Remove mounting bracket (vehicles with manual gearbox) → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-
  W00-0554
–  Remove bolt -3-.
  A46-10041
–  Pull off retaining clip -1- on left side and pull out pin -5- to the right.
–  Remove brake pedal.
Installing brake pedal with mounting bracket removed
  WARNING
If possible, stop on brake pedal should always be left installed; otherwise mounting for brake light sensor could break off if brake pedal is released too abruptly.

  Note
If possible, stop -17- on brake pedal must always be left installed; otherwise mounting for brake light sensor -10- could break off if brake pedal is released too abruptly.

–  Push retaining clip (right-side) onto pin.
–  Slide pin from right to left through shaft in brake pedal.
   
–  Secure pin with retaining clip -1- on left side.
The pin must be secured with the retaining clips on both sides.

–  Fit bolt -3- and tighten.
–  Install mounting bracket (vehicles with manual gearbox) → Chapter.
