The power unit mountings provide the structural connection between the power unit and the bodyshell.

They are rated to support the weight of the power unit and withstand the loads resulting from the torque transmitted by the engine.

Each mounting comprises a rubber-metal block which dampens the vibrations generated by the engine, largely reducing those transmitted to the bodyshell.

Type

The power unit mounting system is barycentric. It consists of two blocks plus a reaction rod that acts as a link. New mounts are aligned along a centre line passing through the engine centre of gravity in order to achieve reaction forces with zero offset.

This new system has brought about a reduction in noise.

This has brought particular benefits in terms of handlng and interior comfort.

The power unit mounting is the ''suspended'' type.

The unit is fixed to the bodyshell by means of three supports with flexible damping mountings:

• one in steel on the timing side (1);
• one in aluminium alloy on the gearbox side (2);
• one swivelling type in steel (3), which is fastened to the suspension crossmember

To limit jolting, the engine is connected to the bodywork at the top by means of a counterbrace (4).

They are designed to support the weight of the power unit and the loads from the torque transmitted by the engine.

This is a centre of gravity type power unit support, comprising two mountings plus a reaction rod with supports aligned on one axis for the centre of gravity thereby producing reaction forces.
