Operation 1048B50 · PRESSURE AIR CIRCUIT

2.3 JTD 16V

Removing

1. Remove the air supply hose to the air/air heat exchanger (intercooler).

- Draw off the fluid from the power assisted steering reservoir.

1. Undo the bolts fixing the power assisted steering fluid reservoir mounting bracket.

2. Disconnect the fluid pipes from the reservoir.

- Seal the power assisted steering fluid reservoir pipes to prevent the fluid from escaping.

3. Remove the power assisted steering fluid reservoir, complete with bracket, sideways.

1. Remove the second section of the air supply hose to the air/air heat exchanger (intercooler).

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the right front light cluster.

2. Disconnect the bands at the two ends and remove the air pipe from the air/air heat exchanger to the intake manifold.

1. Disconnect the recirculation pipe from the engine coolant reservoir.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) fixing the air heat exchanger upper bracket (1b) to the upper crossmember.

2. Lift up the air heat exchanger and remove it.

Refitting

- Fit the air heat exchanger in the housing.

- Tighten the bolts fixing the air heat exchanger upper bracket to the upper crossmember.

- Connect the recirculation pipe to the engine coolant reservoir.

- Fit the air pipe from the air/air heat exchanger to the intake manifold.

- Connect the electrical connection for the right front light cluster.

- Fit the second section of the air supply hose to the air/air heat exchanger (intercooler).

- Fit the power assisted steering fluid reservoir, complete with bracket.

- Connect the fluid pipes to the reservoir.

- Tighten the bolts fixing the power assisted steering fluid reservoir mounting bracket.

- Fit the air supply hose to the air/air heat exchanger (intercooler).

- Refill the power assisted steering system using the appropriate fluid.

2.8 JTD 8V

Removing

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Op. 1048B20 AIR DELIVERY SLEEVE FROM HEAT EXCHANGER TO RIGID PIPE - REPLACE

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and place the power assisted steering fluid reservoir assembly and mounting bracket (1b) outside of the work area.

1. Disconnect the right front light cluster electrical connection.

1. Undo the fixing bolts (1a) and remove the bracket (1b).

2. Remove the heat exchanger.

Refitting

- Fit the air/air heat exchanger in the housing.

- Fit the mounting bracket and tighten the fixing bolts.

- Connect the right front light cluster electrical connection.

- Position the power assisted steering fluid reservoir assembly and mounting bracket and tighten the fixing bolts.

- Connect the negative battery terminal.
