Checking synchronizer components

The synchronizer ring must not have any signs of excess wear on the internal or external surfaces.

The front teeth of the sleeve should not have too many notches or chips.

In addition, the internal surfaces of the sleeve should not be excessively worn.

It is advisable to replace the synchronizer and springs when repairs are being carried out the gearbox.
