REMOVING-REFITTING TAILGATE HINGES

Removing

• Remove the tailgate, following the instructions given on pages 22 - 24;
• remove the fixing cover from the roof panel, using tool 1878077000 (see upper inset);
• undo the bolt fixing the hinge to the bodyshell, then remove it.

Refitting

When refitting, proceed as described below:

• remove any traces of thermo-expansible sealant from the area surrounding the hinge housing;
• insert a suitable thermo-expansible sealant between the hinge and the bodyshell;

If the thermo-expansible sealant is not applied, water penetration will occur.

• tighten the fixing bolt without locking it;
• place the tailgate in position and temporarily tighten the bolts fixing the hinges to the tailgate;

• adjust the position of the tailgage, following the instructions given on page 27;
• when the adjustment of the tailgate is complete, tighten the bolt fixing the hinge to the bodyshell to the recommended torque.
