2125C20 - MANUAL GEARSHIFT CONTROL ASSEMBLY - R+R. AND OVERHAULING

Removal

Carry out this operation with the engine cold

  • Set the car on the car lift.
  • Open the engine compartment.
  • Disconnect the battery(-) terminal

  • Open the gearshift lever cover to allow removal of the gearshift lever.
  • Raise the car.
  1. Slacken the gearshift lever support screws.
  2. Lower the gearshift lever support (2a) with the gear engagement hoses (2b)and gear selection hoses (2c).

  1. Prise the circlip (1a) and disconnect the gear selection hose (1b).
  2. Prise off the snap-fitted gear engagement hose.
  3. Withdraw the hose sheath clamps.
  4. Withdraw the gear engagement hoses (4a) and gear selection hoses (4b) and remove the gearshift lever support (4c).

Disassembly

  1. Put the gearshift lever support in a vice.
  2. Remove the circlips (2a) and remove the reversing gear inhibitor cable (2b).
  3. Remove the gearshift lever knob (3a) using the tool (3b)
