On the rear seat there are two safety belts fitted with a reel, positioned on the sides of the seat, and a centre belt that can be adjusted in length . To avoid the possibility of unmatched closing, the side belt clasps are not compatible with those of the centre belt.

GLOSSARY

Pretensioners

Device applied to the front safety belts in place of the usual reels.

In a serious front crash the device activates a small load and winds up some centimetres of the belt, thus recovering the clearance between the belt and the seat occupant. This operation ensures the best restraining conditions in the case of impact. After activation the pretensioner remains locked in position and therefore has to be replaced.

Submarining

Phenomenon that takes place in a front crash when the body of the seat occupant, although the belt is correctly fastened, tends to slide under the belt.
