GLOSSARY
Zinc plating by depositing with galvanic processing
The sheet metal is dipped in or placed on (depending whether the galvanizing is to be on one or both surfaces) a solution of zinc salts from which, through the electrolytic effect, a layer of pure zinc is deposited (with a thickness of approximately 8 micron) with a high surfacefinish.
Zinc plating by firing
Melted zinc is deposited on the sheet metal by heat treatment. With this process, mainly used for the body structural elements, considerable zinc thickness can be obtained (up to 20 micron).
CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS
The hatchback body with two side doors and rear tailgate has been designed with the following crash protections :
- strengthened safety passenger compartment
- front and rear structures with different stiffness to absorb the impact energy
- anti intrusion bars on the doors to resist side crashes
- collapsible engine compartment to avoid penetration into the windscreen.
