Safety system

The window raiser device has a series of protections for the various system components to ensure an operation that is safe and free of risks at all times.

The window activation motor also has a function that, if there is a load that exceeds a certain threshold during movement, cuts off the operation, in the case of obstacles (for example children) that could cause obstructions during the window rising.

For further information concerning component connections see DIAGRAMS E3050.

STRUCTURE

The doors are in a structure that unites lightweight with strength and stiffness at the same time. To ensure high passive safety, the structure has an anti intrusion bar to limit deformations in the case of side crashes.

TRIMS

Various devices and controls are fastened on the structure complying to ergonomic requirements and are easy to access in the case of repair operations :

  • the door wiring connection can be disconnected without removing the door panel
  • the door mirror can be removed without taking out the inner panel
  • the door lock can be removed just taking out the inner panel
  • the exterior handle and the lock block can be replaced just removing the panel.

GLOSSARY

Anti-intrusion bar

Structural stiffening element inserted in the door frame to limit inward deformation in the case of side crashes.

Passive safety

This is a series of precautions that interact to reduce the consequences for the car passengers in an accident. They can be summarised in:

  • layered windscreen
  • collapsible steering column
  • steering wheel covering material
  • dashboard profile without protrusions or hazardous sharp edges, built in shock absorption material
  • pedal unit structure
  • shape and resistance of seats
  • head rest
  • safety belts (also with pretensioners, installed with the airbag system)
  • Airbag, where installed, according to the version, only on driver's side or driver and passenger sides
  • differential resistance on body, which means with passenger compartment as rigid as possible and the front and rear parts gradually deformable so as to absorb the crash energy.
