Engine - 2.0L - Exhaust Manifold Cougar 1999 (08/1998-01/2001)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal
  1. Detach the heat shield.
    1. Undo the upper bolts.
    • Remove the coolant hose bracket.
    1. Detach the air conditioning line bracket.
    1. Remove the lower bolts.

  1. Unclip and separate the HO2S sensor multiplug.

  1. Detach the exhaust pipe and the EGR pipe from the exhaust manifold.

  1. Detach the EGR pipe bracket (if present).

  1. Loosen the EGR pipe from the EGR valve and detach the EGR pipe bracket (if present).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Allow the engine to cool before working on aluminium components.
    Detach the exhaust manifold.
    • Unscrew the nuts.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not apply coarse grinding paste to mating faces.
    Attach the exhaust manifold.

  1. Tighten the EGR pipe to the EGR valve and attach the EGR pipe bracket (if present).

  1. Attach the EGR pipe bracket (if present).

  1. Attach the exhaust pipe with a new gasket to the exhaust manifold.

  1. Connect and clip in the HO2S plug.

  1. Attach the heat shield.
    • Insert the oil dipstick tube, position the coolant hose bracket and engine lifting eye.
    1. Install the upper bolts.
    1. Attach the bracket to the air conditioning line.
    1. Install the lower bolts.
