Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Lay the cylinder head down on a clean support on the workbench.
NOTE:
NOTE:Insert wooden wedges in the combustion chamber recesses in the cylinder head so that the valves are held in place for removal.

  1. Remove the valves.
    1. Compress the valve springs.
    1. Remove the valve collets.
    • Remove the valve spring retainers and the valve springs.

  1. Remove the valve stem seals.
    1. Insert Special Tool -.
    1. Turn the special tool clockwise and pull it out.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Keep all parts in order.
    Remove the valve springs.
  1. Remove the valves and keep them in order .

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Proceed as recommended by the abrasive manufacturers.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install in the positions they were taken from.
    Regrind the valves with abrasive .
  1. Thoroughly clean all components to remove any residues of sealer and abrasive.
  1. Apply lubricant to the valve stems.

  1. Install the valve stem seals.
    • Cover the groove in the valve stems with the valve stem seal fitting sleeve.
    • Slide the valve stem seal onto the valve stem and remove the fitting sleeve.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Check that the collets are seated correctly.
    Install the valve springs.
    • Insert the valve springs and valve spring retainers.
    1. Compress the valve springs.
    1. Insert the collets.
  1. Repeat steps to (Remove) and to (Install) for all the other cylinders.
