Remove
1. Slacken the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle and remove the rear road wheels.

2. Remove the centre section of the exhaust system heat shield (four bolts).
3. Loosen the handbrake adjustment, (refer to Operation Number 12 662 0).

4. Disconnect the primary cable from the equaliser yoke.
1. Remove the spring clip.
2. Remove the cable retaining pin.

5. Remove the exhaust system flange retaining nuts and bolts.

6. Detach the exhaust system from the rear rubber insulators.
7. Lower and support the exhaust system.

8. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system heat shield (three bolts).

9. Detach the non‐adjustable cable from the body.
1. Remove the spring clip.
2. Detach the non‐adjustable cable.

10. Detach the rear cables from the body clips.

11. Detach the rear cables from the rear axle clips.
12. Remove the back plates (refer to Operation Number 12 313 0).

13. Support the rear axle assembly.

14. Remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolts (one each side).

15. Remove the axle mounting bracket bolts (four bolts each side).
16. Lower and remove the rear axle assembly.

17. Remove the axle mounting brackets (one nut and bolt each side).

18. Remove the stabiliser bar (two bolts each side).

CAUTION:

When removing the pivot bushes lubricate the shaft of the special tool with the grease provided with the tool.
19. Remove the pivot bushes.
Install

NOTE:

The final tightening of the rear suspension components should be carried out when the vehicle weight is on the road wheels.

CAUTION:

When refitting the pivot bush lubricate the shaft of the special tool with the grease provided with the tool.
20. Refit the components in the reverse order.
Vehicles built after 1996 model year
21. Carefully pull out the rubber lip on the inboard side of the pivot.
All vehicles

22. Align the rear axle assembly.

23. Adjust the handbrake (refer to Operation Number 12 662 0).
