Thermostat - 1.8L Endura-DE (Kent) Diesel > < Cooling Fan Motor - 1.4L PTE (CVH)
Engine Cooling - Water Pump—1.6L Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Remove the splash shield.

  1. Loosen the accessory drive belt idler pulley bolt and the water pump pulley bolts.

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
    1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise.
    1. Remove the accessory drive belt.

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley and the water pump pulley.

  1. Detach the power steering pipe bracket.

  1. Detach the power steering pump bracket.

  1. Remove the timing belt cover lower bolts.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Detach the coolant expansion tank and position to one side.
    1. Remove the coolant expansion tank bolt.
    1. Unclip the coolant expansion tank.
    1. Detach the coolant expansion tank and position to one side.
  1. Remove the timing belt covers.

  1. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

  1. Remove the generator bolts.

  1. Remove the generator.
    1. Remove the nut.
    1. Remove the stud.
    1. Remove the generator.

  1. Remove the water pump.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new gasket.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. It may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its adaptive strategy.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
