Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
  1. Remove the timing belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine / 303-01C Engine / 303-01D Engine / 303-01E Engine. for Ikon
    For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine / 303-01C Engine / 303-01D Engine / 303-01E Engine. for Fiesta

  1. Remove the timing belt tensioner.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Mark the position of the engine front mounting.
    Remove the engine front mounting retaining bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The engine front mounting bracket lower retaining bolt cannot be completely removed.
    Detach the engine front mounting bracket.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use a suitable packing material to prevent damage to the underside of the oil pan.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Using a suitable trolley jack, raise the engine.
    Remove the engine front mounting bracket.

  1. Remove the timing belt idler pulley.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hose from the water pump.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Take care not to put undue stress on any pipes or wiring.
    Remove the water pump retaining bolts.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Using a suitable trolley jack, raise the engine.
    Remove the water pump.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
