Engine - 1.3L Duratec-8V (Rocam)/1.6L Duratec-8V (Rocam) - Crankshaft Rear Seal Ikon 1999 (01/2000-)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Remove the oil pan.
    For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - in this section.

  1. Remove the crankshaft rear seal carrier.
    • Discard the crankshaft rear seal carrier.

Installation
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not remove the plastic installation sleeve before installation.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new crankshaft rear seal carrier.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:A new rear seal carrier is supplied preassembled with an installation sleeve that must be removed following installation.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not touch the dust lip and the sealing lip.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The sealing lip must be free of oil.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the dowel pins are correctly seated.
    Install the crankshaft rear seal carrier.
    • Discard the installation sleeve.
  1. Install the oil pan.
    For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - in this section.
