Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. General Equipment: Trolley jack

  1. Refer to: Timing Cover (303-01F Engine - 2.2L Duratorq-TDCi (Puma) Diesel, Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06E Starting System - 2.2L Duratorq-TDCi (DW) Diesel, Removal and Installation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated while the special tool is installed.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1270

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1277

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take extra care when handling the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor ring.

Installation
  1.  
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Make sure that a new component is installed.
    1. Torque: 60 Nm
    1. Torque: 80 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The crankshaft or camshafts must not be rotated while the timing belt is removed.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the timing belt is not folded to produce a loop with a diameter less than 35 mm.

    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Make sure that a new component is installed.
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Make sure that a new component is installed.
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.
    1. CAUTION:
      CAUTION:Take extra care when handling the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor ring.

  1. Allen key, 6mm
    Torque: 25 Nm

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1270

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1277

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
    Rotate the crankshaft 4 revolutions.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated while the special tool is installed.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1270

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The special tool can only be installed if the valve timing is correct.
    Install the Special Tool(s): 303-1277

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure a new component is installed.
    Torque:
    Stage 1:
    70 Nm
    Stage 2:
    82°

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1277

  1. Remove the Special Tool(s): 303-1270
  1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06E Starting System - 2.2L Duratorq-TDCi (DW) Diesel, Removal and Installation).
  1. Refer to: Timing Cover (303-01F Engine - 2.2L Duratorq-TDCi (Puma) Diesel, Removal and Installation).

  1.  
    1. NOTE:
      NOTE:Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
    1. Torque: 133 Nm

  1. General Equipment: Trolley jack

  1. Torque: 90 Nm
