4. add the remaining rack piston balls (25) to the ball guide (23) using grease at each end to retain the balls (25) (see Figure 21).
5. Install the ball guide (23) to the rack piston (26).
6. Tighten the ball guide clamp (22) and screws (21) tightening the screws to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs) and insert the J 21552 tool into the bore of the rack
piston (26) while turning the wormshaft (13) counterclockwise. The rack piston (26) will be forced onto J 21552 and will hold the rack piston balls
(25) in place.

Install the races (15 and 17) and the thrust bearing (16) to the worm shaft (13).
8. Attach the worm shaft (13) to the housing (20).
9. Install the valve.
10. Attach the rack piston (26) to the worm shaft (13) from the J 21552, using the J 8947 tool to compress the seals then do the following.

Hold the J 21552 tightly against the worm shaft and turn the stub shaft clockwise until the rack piston (26) is seated on the worm shaft (13).
CAUTION: Make sure that all rack piston balls (25) are reinstalled in the rack piston. Improper rack piston ball installation may result in personal
injury.
11. Install the rack piston plug (27), tightening it to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.).
12. Attach the housing end plug.
13. Install the pitman shaft and side cover then adjust the steering gear.
14. Install the steering gear.
