Remove the six (6) front console screws, console, and unplug the connectors from the accessory power outlet.

Move the shift lever to the "P" position, and then turn the ignition switch to ACC.

Verify the shift interlock cable mounting screw is tight and secure (see figure 4).

Press and hold the shift lever push-button, check the condition of the spring pin cover in the lock assembly (see figure 5).

If the cover is loose, out of position or missing, disregard this bulletin and replace the lock cylinder assembly (refer to the appropriate service
manual for the replacement procedures).

If the cover is in good condition, release the shift lever push-button and proceed to step 12.

Push the white plastic cable slider toward the cable until it stops (see figure 6).
