Removing

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

- Open the boot, remove the cover on the left hand side and disconnect the negative battery lead.

- Raise the vehicle on the lift.

- Remove the oil seal from the crankshaft front oil seal cover.

Take care not to damage the housing in the front cover.

Refitting

1. Fit a new oil seal (1a) on the crankshaft front oil seal cover using the tool (1b).

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

Removing

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

- Open the boot, remove the cover on the left hand side and disconnect the negative battery lead.

1. Remove the toothed drive pulley

- Remove the crankshaft key using a suitable drift.

2. Release and remove the crankshaft front oil seal cover.

Refitting

1. Fit a new oil seal (1a) on the crankshaft front oil seal cover using the tool (1b).

- Fit the crankshaft key.

- Fit the toothed drive pulley

- Raise the lift

- Remove the oil seal from the housing in the front cover.

The oil seal is ruined during the removal operation so it must always be replaced.

Refitting

1. Fit the new oil seal (1a) introducing it into the housing in the front cover using the tool (1b).

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

- Top up the engine coolant, following the instructions in the description:

- Open the boot and connect the negative battery terminal.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
