  • Press button A (Fig. 2) and check that the electric brake is activated by the characteristic noise that testifies to the fact that the battery is working and so too is the actual brake.
  • Reconnect the lead to the negative battery terminal and carry out the initialization procedures for the control units for the central locking, climate control and ESP systems, required each time the battery is disconnected and described below for quick reference.
  • Close all the doors and the boot lid, place the key in one of the front door locks and carry out a central locking opening/closing cycle. All the locks will be aligned in this way.
  • Switch on the engine and switch on the air conditioning compressor setting a temperature below ambient temperature, check whether the LED in the air conditioning compressor off button comes on.
  • After having turned the steering wheel at least a quarter of a turn (this operation can be carried out either with the engine switched off or running), start driving for a few metres in a straight line until the ESP warning light goes out.

3. Aligning locks using the mechanical key

This operation has already been carried out in the previous point

4. Checking setup my car menu and, if necessary, language setting and/or correcting Date and Time

  • Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  • Press the SETUP button in the left of the display to show the main settings menu screen.
  • Turn the knob to the right of the display to scroll the menu items until CONNECT can be selected and confirmed and press the same knob to display the CONNECT settings screen.

If you wish to change the lanugage (from Italian to one of the others available), select it and confirm it using the same knob to the right of the display. The system requires the navigation CD to be inserted for a change of language (where there is no SETUP one) following the instructions that appear on the display; this operation takes several minutes, at the end, press the 'Cancel' button to exit the screen.

If there is no GPS signal, the Date and the Time must also be set following the instructions given below:

5. Switching off electric parking brake (EPB) before washing the vehicle

To deactivate the automatic engagement of the parking brake and allow the vehicle to be moved with the engine switched off, before washing it is necessary to:

  • Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  • Simultaneously press the brake pedal and keep button A pressed (Fig. 4) for at least 2 seconds.
  • The handbrake warning light will flash 3 times to signal that when the ignition is next turned OFF the handbrake will not be automatically engaged.

Manual deactivation in this way will be cancelled the next time the engine is started up.
