Fog Lamps

Front Fog Lamps

When the lighting switch is rotated to the second position, (SIDELAMPS), battery power is switched to fuse 8 in the passenger compartment fuse box (LH lamps). The R/B wire supplies a feed to the general illumination lamp of the front fog lamp switch and to one side of the front fog lamp relay coil. Operation of the front fog lamp switch provides an earth to the on/off illumination and energises the front fog lamp relay as a result of the earth supplied on the B/S wire to the other side of the coil. With the relay energised, supply from fuse 31 in the satellite fuse box is fed on the N/R wire to the relay contacts and from there on the R/N wire to the front fog lamps. Earth returns for the lamps are on B wires.

NOTE: If the front fog lamps are in operation, switching OFF the headlamps or ignition will automatically extinguish the fog lamps; subsequent reversal of these actions will automatically illuminate the fog lamps.

Rear Fog Lamps

When the lighting switch is rotated to the second position, (SIDELAMPS), battery power is switched to fuse 8 in the passenger compartment fuse box (LH lamps). The R/B wire supplies a feed to the MFU and general illumination lamp of the rear fog lamp switch. Operation of the rear fog lamp switch provides an earth to the on/off illumination and energises the rear fog lamp relay (within the MFU) as a result of the earth sent to the MFU on the R/Y wire.

With the relay energised supply from fuse 9 in the passenger compartment fuse box is fed to the MFU on the U wire and from the MFU on the U/Y wire to the rear fog lamps and on/off illumination. Earth returns for the lamps are on B wires.

NOTE: Since the rear fog lamps are ultimately controlled by MFU, if the rear fog lamps are in operation, switching OFF the headlamps or ignition will turn the rear fog lamps OFF; the fog lamp switch will need to be manually re-selected under these circumstances.
