Each time the handset button is pressed, the radio signal code is changed in a sequence mirrored by the receiver in the alarm ECU. If the sequence is broken, (e.g. by handset battery renewal, or by temporary vehicle battery disconnection, etc.), it will be necessary to restore synchronisation. This can be done by ensuring that the driver’s door is unlocked with the key and pressing the handset RH button four times in quick succession, until the vehicle responds by locking the car.
Perimetric Protection
Each door, the bonnet and the boot/taildoor incorporates a switch that closes as the door or bonnet is opened. When a switch is closed, an earth signal is supplied to the Alarm ECU. The drivers door is connected via a G/U wire, the passenger doors via G/R wires, the boot/tail door via a G wire, and the bonnet via a Y/R wire.
If a door is opened when the alarm is armed, the alarm ECU causes either the horn or an alarm sounder to operate. Once triggered, the horn or sounder will operate for a period of 25 to 30 seconds. It can be silenced by pressing either button on the handset, or by use of the key.
The perimetric alarm can be set by either the handset or by locking the driver’s door with the key. Access to the vehicle is permitted using the key to unlock either the driver’s door or the tail door; the alarm will be restored when the doors are re-locked with the key.
