10. Screw a nut onto the lower ball joint until flush with the end of the joint. If necessary, apply penetrating oil to joint.
11. Break taper joint using tool 18G 1584 .

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the rubber boot on lower ball joint.

12. Remove nut from lower ball joint and release lower suspension arm from front hub.

13. With an assistant carefully pulling hub assembly outwards, use tool 18G 1578 , to release drive shaft from differential.

CAUTION: Pull drive shaft horizontally to avoid damaging differential oil seal.

14. Remove and discard circlip from drive shaft.
15. Secure drive shaft clear of gearbox for access.

16. Carefully prise oil seal out of differential housing and discard oil seal.

Refit

1. Thoroughly clean oil seal recess and splines of drive shaft.
2. Lubricate new oil seal with gearbox oil. See INFORMATION, Capacities, fluids and lubricants.
