ALTERNATOR

Service repair no - 86.10.02

Remove

  1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
  2. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

  1. Remove drive belt. See MAINTENANCE.
Alternator – Remove drive belt. See MAINTENANCE.
  1. Disconnect multiplug from alternator.
  2. Release cover and remove nut securing cable to alternator.
  3. Remove bolt securing vacuum pipe to camshaft cover.
  4. Slacken clip and release vacuum pipe from vacuum pump.
  5. Slacken oil feed pipe union on vacuum pump.
  6. Remove LH under belly panel. See BODY, Repairs.
  7. Position drain tin to collect oil spillage from sump.
Alternator – Position drain tin to collect oil spillage from sump.
  1. Release oil return pipe from sump.

CAUTION: Plug the connections.

Alternator – Release oil return pipe from sump.
  1. Remove 2 bolts securing alternator to mounting bracket.
  2. Disconnect oil feed pipe from vacuum pump.
  3. Remove alternator from vehicle. Do not carry out further dismantling if component is removed for access only.
  4. Remove vacuum pump from alternator. See BRAKES, Repairs.
