- Description and operation
The temperature gauge is driven by an air cored electronic movement. The centre pivot on which the pointer is mounted is fluid damped and fitted with a return magnet causing the gauge to return to zero when the ignition is switched off.
Vehicles fitted with 1.4 and 2.0 engines have gauges with a maximum temperature of 125°C, and for vehicles with the 1.6 engine, gauges with a maximum temperature of 120°C are fitted.
When the engine is switched on the pointer will move from the cold segment 'C' to approximately 10°C, after a small delay the pointer then moves to the halfway position. The pointer will then stay in this position until a temperature of approximately 110°C is reached, then the pointer will move to the hot segment 'H' indicating excessive temperature.
