Removing / fitting the gear lever knob and cover
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -V.A.G 1275-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removal:
  Note
The gear knob is removed together with the gear lever boot and the cover for the centre console.
–  Open ashtray.
–  Unclip cover for centre console and lift it off -arrows-.

Gear knob with clip:
–  Pull boot up and over gear knob.
–  Open clamp -arrow- and remove shift knob together with shift lever cover with clamp pliers - VAG 1275-.

Gear knob with locking mechanism:
–  Release connecting piece -1- in direction of arrow and pull gear knob off upwards together with gear lever boot.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
