Operating emergency release of selector mechanism: switch out of position „P“
Operating emergency release of selector mechanism: switch out of position „P“
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

The selector lever lock solenoid -N110- locks the selector lever in position „P“. The selection lever can only be moved from the „P“ position if, while the ignition is on and/or the engine is started, the brake pedal is held down and the button on the handle of the selector lever is pressed in → Chapter.
In the event of malfunctions in the supply voltage to the selector lever lock solenoid (discharged battery or defective fuse) or if the solenoid is defective the selector lever cannot be shifted out of position „P“, i.e. the vehicle cannot be moved, as the parking lock is engaged.
In that case:
–  check the fuses → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Check battery voltage → Rep. gr.27.
If the selector lever can not be taken out of position „P“ in spite of having carried out the fault location, it is possible to proceed to the emergency solenoid release. However, if the selector lever returns to the position „P“, it will be locked once again in position „P“.
Operation process
  W00-2169
–  Clip the frame that fixes the selector lever sleeve from the central console using the lever - U 30800--arrows- and raise the sleeve -arrows-.
–  Turn up selector lever boot.
Vehicles up to 02.2009:
  E34-10163
–  Release the selector lever locking solenoid -A- by pressing the lever -B- inwards with a screwdriver -arrow- and hold in this position.
  Note
The screwdriver from the vehicle tool set may be used for this operation.
Vehicles from 03.2009:
  E37-10001
–  Press against the yellow plastic part in the direction of the -arrow-.
All vehicles (continued):
  Caution
The gear operation mechanism can only be replaced as a unit, that is, it any of its components are damaged then the mechanism must be replaced completely.
–  With the lever released, now press the button on the handle and take the selector lever out of position „P“.
  Note
However, if the selector lever is moved back to position „P“, the solenoid will, in turn, mechanically lock it in position „P“ again, and it will be necessary to unlock it again.
