Removing / fitting the gear lever knob and cover
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Lever -U 30800-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removal:
–  switch ignition on.
–  Move the selector lever to position „D“.
–  Switch ignition OFF.

–  Carefully remove the button out of the selector lever -2- so that a pin -1- can be inserted (Ø approx. 2 mm) between the button and the selector lever -2-.
  Note
Do not in any event extract the button, as this will damage the selector lever handle.
–  Remove the cover -arrows - using the lever -U-30800 -.

–  Disconnect the connector -A- for the printed circuit board in the cover.
–  Remove the whole handle by pulling upwards from the plastic sleeve-arrow-.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Move the selector lever to position „D“.

t  For fitting the selector lever -2-, the interlock button must be pulled out to the end and secured using a pin -1-(Ø approx. 2 mm).
t  If, by accident, the button was not secured, it must not be removed from the selector lever handle using auxiliary mechanical tools. Place a compressed air gun underneath the handle and make the button come out using compressed air.
–  Insert the complete selector lever handle -2- on to the selector lever; the button -1- must face in the direction of the driver. The handle should be set onto the selector lever housing.
–  Remove the pin or the fitting aid; the actuation of the button is then applied in the vertical groove on the selector lever. If necessary, use pressure to insert the button into the selector lever handle.

–  Jam the selector lever by pushing the plastic sleeve down in the opposite direction to that indicated by the -arrows-.
–  Measures to be followed after connecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27 .
