t  Collector tray -V.A.G 1306-
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-

Removal

–  Respect the order for loosening the cylinder head bolts.
Fitting
  Note!
t  Always replace the cylinder head fixing bolts.
t  In the event of repair, carefully eliminate the remains of the gasket from the cylinder head and engine block. Make sure no stretching or scratching takes place. If using glasspaper, the grain must be under 100.
t  Carefully remove the abrasion dust.
t  Do not remove the new cylinder head gasket from its packaging before it is time to fit it.
t  Handle the gasket with the utmost care. If the silicon layer and the stretched area are damaged, leaks may occur.
–  Before fitting the cylinder head, turn the crankshaft to the TDC mark.
–  Turn the crankshaft in the opposite direction to that in which the engine turns until the pistons are uniformly under TDC.
–  Put the cylinder head gasket in place.

–  Tighten the cylinder head in four passes in the order indicated below:
–  1. Preliminary tightening with torque wrench:
   I. pass = 40 Nm
   II pass = 60 Nm
–  2. Retighten with a rigid spanner:
   III. pass = 1/4 turn (90°)
   IV. pass = 1/4 turn (90°)
  Note!
t  It is not necessary to retighten the cylinder head bolts following repairs.
t  The retightening of the cylinder head bolts may be checked with the transporter -T20030-.
