t  Cooling system leakage check -VAG 1687-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adapter -V.A.G 1687/12-
  W00-10327
Operation process
–  remove the central sound proofing → Exterior body installation work; Rep. Gr.50
  A10-1565
–  Remove the left charger air hose from the charge air pipe. To do this, lift the retaining clip -right arrow- slightly.
  A10-1834
–  Attach the adaptor -1687/12- to the intake hose-1- and and fix it with a clamp.
–  Attach the charge air system tester -V.A.G 1687- to the adapter.
  A21-10178
Prepare the supercharger system tester -V.A.G 1687-, as described below:
–  Completely unscrew the pressure regulation valve -2- and close the valves -3- and -4-.
l  Make sure knob is pulled out before turning pressure control valve -2-.
–  Using a commercially available connection piece, connect charge air system tester -V.A.G 1687- to compressed air -1-.
  V21-0168
–  Attach the compressed air hose -1- (compressed air supply) to the supercharger system tester -V.A.G 1687-.
  Note
If there is water in the inspection hole, drain it through the drain screw -6-.
–  Open valve -3-.
–  Set the pressure to 0.5 bar using the pressure regulation valve -2-.
  Caution
The pressure must not exceed 0.5 bar! Excessive pressure may cause damage to the engine.
–  Open the valve -4- and wait for the test circuit to be filled. If necessary reset the pressure to 0.5 bar.
–  Check for leaks in the supercharger system by listening, feeling, using leak-detector spray or with the ultrasound measuring device -V.A.G 1842-.
  Note
t  Slight leaks on the intake side of the turbocharger are acceptable, as the intake hoses are not designed for working with positive pressure.
t  A tiny amount of air escapes from the engine valves. Therefore the retained pressure cannot be checked.
t  Use of the ultrasound measuring device -V.A.G 1842- → Instruction manual.
t  If a leak is found, consult the notes on the supercharge system for the fitting work to be done → Chapter.
t  Before removing the adaptor, depressurize the inspection circuit by releasing the coupling of the adaptor -1687/10-.
