Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamp -T10027-, see equivalent → Anchor
To adjust the gear operation mechanism correctly, the following points must be taken into consideration:
l  Operation and transmission elements of the gear selection mechanism in perfect condition
l  Gearbox operation must be smooth with no stiffness
l  The gearbox, the clutch operation mechanism and the clutch must be in perfect condition
l  Gearbox in neutral

–  Lock securing mechanism on shift control cable and selector control cable to stop toward front -arrows 1- and lock by turning to left -arrows 2-.

Hook the gear selection shaft as described bellow:
–  Press the selector shaft downwards -arrow 1-.
–  When pushing the selector shaft, turn joint -A- in the direction of the -arrow 2- until the shaft locks.
–  Remove the gear lever cover from the centre console → Chapter.
–  Turn dust cover over.

Lock the gear lever as follows:
–  Place the gearshift lever in neutral position.
–  Insert the Retention tool -T10027- into the hole -B- through the hole -A-.
  Note
To facilitate the fitting of the retention tool -T10027-, move the gear lever so that the two holes are aligned.

–  Rotate the gear selection and engagement cable securing mechanism to the right -arrows- .
The spring returns the securing mechanism to the initial position.

–  Turn joint -A- in the direction of the -arrow-, until it returns to its initial position.

–  Now the selector shaft should move in the direction of the -arrow- .

–  Remove the retention tool -T10027- from the holes -A- and -B- and fit the cover to the frame.
Check shifting for proper function
l  The shift lever must be at top dead center in the 3rd and 4th gear gate.
–  Press on the clutch and engage all of the gears several times. In particular, check the reverse gear selection lock.
If a gear sticks when it is engaged several times, you must check the selector shaft clearance (stroke) as follows:
–  Select 1st gear.
–  Move the gearshift lever to the left as far as it will go and let it go.
–  At the same time observe selector shaft in gear box (2nd mechanic).

–  When the gearshift lever is moved, the selector shaft must make a stroke of approx. 1 mm in the -direction of the arrow-.
–  If not, adjust the gear change mechanism → Chapter.
