Testing oil pressure and oil pressure switch
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil pressure tester, e.g.-V.A.G 1342 -
t  Voltage tester, e. g. -V.A.G 1527 B-
t  Measuring tool set, e.g. -V.A.G 1594 C-
t  Vehicle diagnosis system, measurement and information system -VAS 5051B-
Conditions
l  Engine oil level o.k., test → Octavia II
l  Coolant temperature at least 80°C (radiator fan must have run once).
  Note
Functional test and repair of the visual and acoustic oil pressure display → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations, → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Test sequence

–  Remove oil pressure switch in the front left of the cylinder head -arrow-.
  S17-0126
–  Screw oil pressure switch into the test equipment.
–  Screw tester in the cylinder head instead of the oil pressure switch.
–  Connect brown cable of tester to earth (-).
–  Connect diode test lamp to battery positive and to oil pressure switch.
l  The LED must not light up.
If the LED lights up:
–  Replace oil pressure switch -F1-.
If the LED does not light up:
–  Start engine and slowly increase engine speed.
l  The LED must light up at 0.03…0.07 MPa (0.3...0.7 bar) oil overpressure, if not replace oil pressure switch.
–  Increase engine speed further.
l  At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80 °C the oil overpressure should be at least 0.2 MPa (2.0 bar).
l  At higher speed the oil overpressure must not exceed 0.7 MPa (7 bar).
