Unscrew the hollow screw -1- and lay the pressure line to the side.
–
Screw the adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/3-, into the vane pump in place of the hollow screw.
–
Screw the hose of the power-assisted steering testing device, e. g. -V.A.G 1402-, onto the adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/3-.
–
Connect the hose from the adapter set, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/6-, to the power-assisted steering testing device and screw up the pressure line with the hollow screw.
–
Remove hose clamps -MP7-602 (3094)-.
–
Make sure that the lever on the manometer is in position -2-.
–
Start the engine and replenish the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir if so required.
–
Turn steering wheel 10 x from stop to stop.
–
Now check the feed pressure.
Test conditions:
l
V-ribbed belt and belt tension OK.
l
Tightness of the system
l
Hoses/lines are not buckled up or tangled up.
–
With the engine running at idling speed, place the shut-of valve to position -1- (for not longer than 5 seconds) and read the pressure.
