For optimal paint results, absolute cleanliness of the equipment, the workplace and the surface being painted is vital. Likewise, ensure that any compressed air used is free from oil and water particles. The materials available from Service make up a perfectly matched system; for further information, consult the current "Paint Repair Systems" brochure. For these operations and the processing of materials, observe the safety measures issued by the responsible institutions. Paint, primer and filler must always be processed in paint booths. Avoid naked flames and spark formation. An adequate amount of fire extinguishers must be at hand. Use dust masks, activated carbon masks or fresh air masks as necessary depending on the operation. For dry sanding, use sanders with an integrated dust extraction device. Paint and solvent residue, extraction system filters and sanding dust must be disposed of according to the regulations valid in the relevant country. All vehicle parts that are not being worked on must be protected against paint damage and contamination by masking. To protect electronic and plastic components, the temperature in paint system drying facilities should not exceed 60 ° C/140 ° F. Wiring harnesses and cable troughs detached or removed for repair work must be reattached at the original position with genuine parts (cable ties, clips, cable trough brackets, etc.) from the Parts and Accessories Department.
