C-029 - Front Passenger Seat Belt Buckle Sensor Circuit

Test

Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit

  • Important:
    Before working on the pyrotechnical system:
    Ignition off
    Disconnect and mask battery negative terminal
    Wait 1 min until the capacitor in the control unit has discharged.
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC18 )
  • Connect wiring harness connector to:
    G1 Battery
  • Ignition ON
    Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 36 (XC18)
    &
    Ground

Note:

Front passenger seat belt not buckled up

less than 0.3 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 36 (XC18)
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm
Yes: No:
T003

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 36 (XC18)
    &
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 37 (XC18)

less than 5 Ohm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: Ohm
Yes: No:
T004

Check: Component

  • Front passenger seat belt buckled up
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 37 (XC18)
    &
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 36 (XC18)

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm

    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    or
    A63 Control Unit - Airbag
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 37 (XC18)
    &
    Y129 Switch - Seat Belt, Front Passenger
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1

or

  • Defective component:
    Y129 Switch - Seat Belt, Front Passenger
