Work Order Description

Nominal Value

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

Important:

Before commencing work on the restraint system:
Ignition OFF
Disconnect the ground cable from battery and mask the negative terminal.
Wait 1 minute until the capacitor in the airbag control unit has discharged.
When commencing work on pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners, it is sufficient to switch the ignition off.

• Ignition OFF
• All consumers turned off
• Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  (Wiring Harness Connector XC18 )
  &
  Diagnostic tester
• Ignition ON
• Measure voltage between the following terminals:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 29(XC18)
  &
  Ground

greater than 11 V

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

• Measure voltage between the following terminals:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 29(XC18)
  &
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 16(XC18)

greater than 11 V

Check: Vehicle Configuration

• Ignition OFF
• Connect wiring harness connector to:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
• Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
  P6 Info Display
• Connect fused jumper wire to:
• P6 Info Display
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 25 (XC23)
  &
  P6 Info Display
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 28 (XC23)
• Ignition ON
• Select ECU Presence Check.

• Circuit interruption between:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 35(XC17)
  &
  X131 Rear Electronic Module
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 32 (XR5)

or

• Defective component:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

• Defective component:
  P6 Info Display

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

• Circuit interruption between:
  A105 Column Integrated Module
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC46)
  &
  P6 Info Display
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 25 (XC23)
  or
  P6 Info Display
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 28 (XC23)
  &
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag
  Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 37 (XC17)

or

• Defective component:
  A63 Control Unit - Airbag

Important:
