Check crankshaft bearing clearance (with
Plastigage)
Measure
Important: Do not turn the
crankshaft
|
1. |
Place the Plastigage
• |
Lay 5 Plastigages (deformable plastic strips) axially across
the entire width of the crankshaft bearing journal (1)
Note: The Plastigage
can be ordered from the "Opel/Vauxhall Workshop Equipment"
catalogue.
|
|
|
|
Important: Note tightening
order.
|
2. |
Attach cylinder block base plate
Note: Note differing
bolts. It is not necessary to replace the bolts for the measuring
procedure.
• |
(I) Tighten 10 M10 bolts 20 Nm +
80°
|
• |
(II) Tighten 10 M8 bolts 30 Nm
|
|
|
|
3. |
Detach cylinder block base plate
Note: Note differing
bolts
|
4. |
Measure crankshaft bearing clearance
• |
Press the plastic 5 strips (1) flat and check the width against
the scale (2)
Note: When reading off
the value, do not confuse the metric and imperial (inch)
measurements on the scale.
