Seal Ring - Rear Crankshaft, Replace > < Oil Pump, Remove and Install

 

Crankshaft Pulse Pick-up, Remove and Install  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove air filter housing and air intake hose - see illustration "Air Filter Housing, Air Flow Guide".  

In X 18 XE, X 20 XEV: remove secondary air metal pipe - see operation "Secondary Air Metal Pipe, Remove and Install (X 18 XE, X 20 XEV)" in group "L".  

Disconnect engine transportation shackle (1).  

Loosen coolant pipe (2) from cylinder head - do not disconnect.  

Disconnect heat shield (3) from exhaust manifold.

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect wiring harness plug for crankcase pulse pick-up (1) and unclip cable from cylinder head cover and from rear toothed belt cover - note cable routing.  

Remove crankshaft pulse pick-up (2) with seal ring from cylinder block and guide cable or wiring harness plug through auxiliary aggregates support.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Guide cable or wiring harness plug through auxiliary aggregates support and attach crankshaft pulse pick-up to cylinder block with new seal ring - tightening torque 6 Nm / 4 lbf. ft.  

Connect wiring harness plug and clip cable to rear toothed belt cover and to cylinder head cover - note cable routing.

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Attach heat shield to exhaust manifold - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.  

Fasten coolant pipe to cylinder head - tightening torque 15 Nm / 11.1 lbf. ft.  

Attach engine transport shackle to cylinder head - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

In X 18 XE, X 20 XEV: install secondary air metal pipe - see operation "Secondary Air Metal Pipe, Remove and Install (X 18 XE, X 20 XEV)" in group "L".  

Notice: 

Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install air cleaner housing and air intake hose - see illustration "Air Cleaner Housing, Air Duct".
