Removing and installing power-assisted steering vane pump, vehicles with 1.4l engine > < Assembly overview - vane pump, reservoir and hydraulic lines

Assembly overview: steering hydraulics pump -V119-, hydraulic lines, Ecomatic
Repairs to steering hydraulics pump -V119- are not intended. In event of complaints, determine the cause with the help of the pressure test and leakage test, and → fault finding programme running gear No. 10. If a fault is found, steering hydraulics pump -V119- must be renewed.
  Note
t  Renew sealing rings.
t  Do not reuse drained hydraulic fluid.
1 - Spacer for pressure hose and return hose
2 - Pressure line
3 - Bracket for pressure hose and return hose
4 - Power steering box
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Assembly overview - power assisted steering box (ZF) → Chapter.
5 - Return hose
6 - O-ring
q   Renew
7 - Cover
8 - Reservoir
q   Oil level: between min. and max. marks.
q   Before removing, clean surrounding area, reservoir and pump thoroughly.
q   Unscrew pressure hose to drain hydraulic fluid → Anchor.
q   On assembly, ensure that lug (enlargement) is located in retaining bracket recess → Item.
q   Installation position: When pump is installed, flat area on reservoir points to thermo-switch on radiator.
9 - Hexagon socket head bolt, 8 Nm
10 - Toothed lock washer
11 - Retaining bracket
q   Note position of recess (enlargement).
q   On assembly, recess must align with lug on reservoir → Item.
12 - O-ring
q   Can be renewed if leaking.
13 - Hydraulic steering relay -J320-
q   If fuse is burnt out, interrogate fault memory.
q   Checked via self-diagnosis → Ecomatic; Rep. Gr.01.
14 - Union nut, 30 Nm
15 - Steering hydrauics pump -V119-
q   Cannot be repaired.
q   Checking function → Chapter.
q   Checked via self-diagnosis → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations, Golf 1992 ►, Vento 1992 ►.
16 - Hexagon nut, M6
q   Battery positive.
17 - Hexagon nut, M8
q   Battery negative
18 - Engine carrier
19 - Hexagon bolt, 25 Nm
