Removing and installing coolant pump
Removing and installing coolant pump
  Note
When renewing expansion tank and during service operations, ensure that 2 silicate cartridges → Electronic parts catalogue are always in expansion tank. The silicate cartridges must not be removed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-
  W00-10228
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024A-
Removing
  WARNING
When the engine is warm, the cooling system is under pressure.
Hot steam/hot coolant can escape - risk of scalding.
Cover filler cap on expansion tank with a cloth and open carefully to dissipate pressure.
Carry out the following work:
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.

–  Unscrew securing bolts -1- of coolant pump and remove coolant pump -2-.
–  Remove O-ring -3-.
Installing
Install in reverse order. In the process, note the following:
–  Renew O-ring.
–  Clean and smooth sealing surface for O-ring.

–  Moisten new O-ring -3- with coolant.
–  Insert coolant pump -2-.
l  Installation position: plug in housing faces downwards.
–  Tighten coolant pump bolts -1-.
–  Install toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Replenish coolant → Chapter.
Specified torques:
  A19-0084
