Handbrake - adjust
A new adjustment is necessary only in case of replacing the handbrake cable, the brake support or the brake pads.
–  Remove centre console extension → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68
–  The brake must be operational and bled.
–  Remove the wheels.
–  Reposition the brake → Chapter
–  Fully lift the brake wedges.
–  Completely loosen the parking brake from the lever compensator.
–  Press the brake pedal with a force of approximately 300 N.
   
–  Assemble the cables and tighten the nut -A- until it is no longer possible to turn the wheels manually
–  Loosen the nut -A- until the wheel turns freely. A slight rubbing is allowed
The adjusting nut -A- should be screwed above the drawbar end -1-.
–  Activate the brake lever and check if it is not possible to turn the wheels
  Note
With this procedure, the vehicle will be completely immobilized by activating the lever between the 3rd and 4th tooth.
–  Release the handbrake and check that the wheels turn freely, otherwise slightly loosen the nut -A-.
–  Install the wheels.
Tightening torques → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.44.
  Note
t  A slight rubbing of the linings against the drum is allowed.
t  After the new adjustment, it is no longer necessary to readjust the handbrake because of the automatic rear wheel brake readjustment.
