Special tools:

Removal

Preparatory work

Remove:

-

transaxle  Refer to: Transmission, removing, B5254T2, M58, B5254T2, M56 See: Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Transmission, Removing

clutch  Refer to: Clutch disc and pressure plate See: Clutch/Clutch Disc/Service and Repair 

Removing the flywheel

Remove the engine speed (RPM) sensor with the bracket. Place it to one side.
Slacken off all the screws for the flywheel. Remove all the screws except for one.
Remove the gear sector 999 5112 GEAR SECTOR  See: Tools and Equipment/999 5112 Gear Sector.
Detach the flywheel from the crankshaft. Remove the remaining screw.
Remove the flywheel.

Checking the crankshaft seal

Check the crankshaft seal for leakage.
To replace the crankshaft seal, refer to the car model and year.
