Installing alternator cable

At the starter motor solenoid:

DO NOT REMOVE THE OLD CABLE BETWEEN THE STARTER SOLENOID AND THE ALTERNATOR.

Remove engine cooling fan with shroud according to step 1. In this bulletin.

Remove

-

Cover over the starter solenoid.

-

Nut holding the cables on the starter solenoid, (13-mm.)

-

Locate and remove from the solenoid stud, the cable terminal (eyelet) for the alternator cable (red cable, thinner of the two red).

Cutoff the red cable 25 mm (1.0 inch) from the terminal (eyelet) and insulate the cut off completely end with tape as per illustration.

On the alternator:

Remove;

-

Cover cap for the cable on the alternator.

-

Nut on 8+, 13 mm.

-

Cable from 8+ on the alternator.

-

Cut off the cable 25 mm (1 inch) from the B+ terminal (eyelet) and insulate it completely with tape as per illustration.

Install new alternator cable
