REMOVAL/REFITTING
- Disconnect the battery (-) terminal.
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the intaken air temperature sensor.
- Slacken the clamp and disconnect the corrugated sleeve from the intake box.
- Remove the fastening clamp and withdraw the sensor from the corrugated sleeve.
AIR FLOW METER
The air flow meter is of the "heated film" type. Its operating principle is based on a heated diaphragm which is interposed in a measuring channel through which the engine intake air flows.
The hot film diaphragm is kept at a constant temperature (~ 120°C) by the heating coil in contact with it. The mass of air that crosses the measuring channel tends to withdraw heat from the diaphragm, therefore to keep the temperature constant, a certain current needs to flow through the resistance.
This current is measured by a suitable Wheatstone bridge. Therefore the current measured is proportionate with the mass of air flowing through.

- Measuring channel
- Hot film sensor
NOTE: This air flow meter measures directly the mass of air (and not the volume) thereby eliminating problems of temperature, altitude, pressure, etc. The correct operation of the air flow meter depends on the conditions of the air cleaner which must therefore be checked often.
REMOVAL/REFITTING
- Disconnect the battery (-) terminal.
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the air flow meter.
- Slacken the clamp fastening the corrugated sleeve to the air flow meter.
