CLIMATE CONTROL RECIRCULATION NOT WORKING
The recirculation function does not work when the special button in the switch panel is pressed.

|---|---|---|---|---|
With the engine started, set the climate control system control unit to the AUTO position, adjust the temperature knob to reach 22°C, set the fan speed at 8 bars, then press the recirculation button (check that the recirculation icon comes on in the display). Then check by feeling that the air flow varies during the opening/closing of the flap. Also locate the grille in the engine compartment for the air intake casing and check the air intake when switching from recirculation to outside air intake. When the control unit is set to the FULL AUTO function and the outside temperature is below 3°C the air intake flap opens automatically to prevent the windscreen from misting up | Move on to Step 2 | 1. The recirculation symbol does not appear on the display 2. The recirculation symbol appears on the display (but the recirculation does not operate) | 1. Move on to Step 3 2. Move on to Step 2 | |
| 2 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check: - that there are no errors in the air recirculation actuator. | Move on to Step 6 | Errors in the recirculation actuator. | Move on to Step 3 | |
| 3 | CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Keeping the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected, check, through active diagnosis, - the correct operation of the air recirculation actuator - the correct activation of all the graphic LCD icons on the display. | Move on to Step 6 | 1. Air recirculation actuator not working 2. The recirculation symbol does not come on | 1. Move on to Step 4 2. Replace the climate control system control unit | |
| 4 | ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Check whether the electrical wiring connections are loose. Remove the control unit from the panel mount, disconnect the wiring connector from the control unit and check visually for any damage to the connector and reconnect correctly to check for false contacts. Remove the oddments compartment and disconnect the connector, inspecting visually for any damage to it, then reconnect the electrical connector to the actuator. | Move on to Step 5 | Electrical wiring connections loose or damaged. | Refit the electrical connections correctly. | |
| 5 | RECIRCULATION MOTOR OPERATION CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
Then proceed as follows: with the engine running, switch on the recirculation air intake function manually with the fan at the maximum speed. If the actuator works and the flap is driven, check whether the air flow rate varies during the movement by feeling it. Deactivate the function by restoring the actuator to the original condition. Identify the air intake casing grille on the vehicle and check the air intake in the shift from recirculation to outside air and the other way round by feeling with your hand. If the result of the check is positive, do not replace the actuator. If further checks on the operation of the actuator are required, this is possible if the air intake casing is easily accessible. | Move on to Step 6 | Incorrect operation of recirculation actuator. | Replace the recirculation actuator Op. 5040D75 AIR CONDITIONING RECIRCULATION FLAP CONTROL MOTOR - R.R | |
| 6 | RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR FLAP CHECK | ALL OK | PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED | ACTION |
| Visually inspect that the air recirculation actuator flap completes its travel without any hindrance. | End of diagnosis | 1. Flap travel incomplete. 2. Flap damaged. 3. Kinematic components/gears damaged. | 1. Free the air recirculation actuator flap from the impediment. 2. Replace the flap. 3. Restore the correct kinematic components. | |
