COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT - DESCRIPTION

1.2 8v, 1.9 JTD 8V · from 10/2000, up to 10/2000

Description

The right button in the climate control control panel in the centre of the dashboard switches on the air cooling and dehumidifying circuit, activating the air conditioning compressor.

the above button enables the operation of the air cooling circuit; but the actual switching on of the compressor also depends on the intervention of:

  • the 4 stage pressure switch, located in the refrigerant circuit, which stops the air conditioning being switched on if the pressure of the fluid is too low or too high;
  • the engine control unit which, according to the engine management logic, excludes the operation of the compressor, for example in the case of high engine temperatures or in the case of high engine loads (sharp acceleration).

In addition the enablement is required for the vehicle interior fan adjustment knob (at least in position 1) and the frost thermostat (

See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING

).

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a specific relay, located in the engine compartment in the junction unit; the relay supply line is protected by a specific fuse.

1.6 16v · from 10/2000, up to 10/2000

Description

  • del pressostato a 4 livelli, collocato sul circuito del fluido refrigerante, che blocca l''inserimento del condizionatore se la pressione del fluido refrigerante è troppo bassa oppure troppo alta;

See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING

).

ll circuito di alimentazione del compressore è comandato da uno specifico teleruttore, collocato nel vano motore nella centralina di derivazione; la linea di alimentazione del teleruttore è protetta da un apposito fusibile.

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a specific relay, located in the engine compartment in the junction unit; the relay supply line is protected by a specific fuse.

1.4 8v, 1.3 JTD 16V · from 12/03 · MY 2005

The compressor activation button is built into the knob that selects the fan speed.

The above button enables operation of the air cooling circuit, but actual compressor activation is also dependent upon activation of:

- the four-stage pressure switch located on the coolant circuit that locks air conditioner activation if coolant pressure is too low or high;

- the engine control unit that excludes compressor operation in accordance with engine management mode; e.g. in the case of high engine temperatures or high engine load (sudden acceleration);

Enablement of the vehicle interior fan adjustment knob (at least in position 1) and the demister thermostat is also required.

See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a special relay located in the engine bay junction unit. The relay supply line is protected by a special fuse.

1.6 16v · from 12/03 · BIPOWER, MY 2005

The compressor on button is incorporated in the knob that selects the fan speed.

The above button enables operation of the air cooling circuit, but actual compressor activation is also dependent upon activation of:

- the 4 stage pressure switch, located in the refrigerant circuit, which stops the engagement of the air conditioning if the pressure of the refrigerant is too low or too high;

- the engine management control unit which, depending on the engine management logic, excludes the operation of the compressor, for example if the engine temperature is high or in the case of high engine loads (sharp acceleration).

The enablement of the vehicle interior fan speed adjustment is also required (at least in position 1) and the frost thermostat.

See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a specific relay, located in the engine compartment junction unit; the supply line for the relay is protected by a special fuse.
