ACCELERATOR PEDAL CHECKS

Check 1068AC

1.9 Multijet

CHECK TO BE PERFORMEDRESOLUTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK
1

Turn the ignition key ON.

With the engine off, all users off and the accelerator pedal not operated, the accelerator pedal value should be 0%.

Under the same conditions, the value of accelerator pedal position 1 AD/C should be less than 1 V and accelerator pedal position 2 AD/C less than 0.5 V

Move on to Step 4
2With the accelerator pedal slightly operated, the value of accelerator pedal postion 1 AD/C must be greater than 1 V and accelerator pedal position 2 AD/C greater than 0.5 VMove on to Step 4
3

With the accelerator pedal pushed down to the floor, accelerator pedal value must be greater than 90%.

Under the same conditions, the value of accelerator pedal position 1 AD/C should be greater than 3 V and accelerator pedal position 2 AD/C greater than 1.5 V

The test can be considered over

Move on to Step 4
4

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the accelerator pedal potentiometer

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Turn the ignition ON. Measure the voltage between Pin 2 (wiring side) of the potentiometer wiring side connector and Earth. Ensure it is greater than 4.8 kOhm.

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Move on to Step 6

Move on to Step 5
5

If faults are present, repair or if necessary replace the electrical wiring between the engine control unit and the accelerator pedal potentiometer.

See E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

The test can be considered over

Replace the engine management control unit

6

Measure the voltage between Pins 2 and 4 (wiring side) of the potentiometer to ensure they are in the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Move on to Step 5
7

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Connect a shunt connection cable with a fuse between Pins 4 and 3 of the potentiometer (wiring side)

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that accelerator pedal position 1 AD/C is less than 0.3 V

Move on to Step 5
8

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the cable upstream and reconnect between pins 2 and 3 (wiring side) of the potentiometer

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that accelerator pedal position 1 AD/C is greater than 4.8 V

Move on to Step 5
9

Measure the voltage between Pin 1 (wiring side) of the potentiometer and Earth, ensuring it is greater than 4.8 V.

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Move on to Step 5
10

Measure the voltage between Pins 1 and 5 (wiring side) of the potentiometer to ensure they are in the range between 4.8 and 5.2 V

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Move on to Step 5
11

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Connect a shunt lead between pins 5 and 6 (wiring side) of the potentiometer

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that accelerator pedal position 2 AD/C is less than 0.3 V

Move on to Step 5
12

Turn the ignition key OFF.

Disconnect the cable upstream and reconnect between pins 1 and 6 (wiring side) of the potentiometer

See K055 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POTENTIOMETER

Turn the ignition key ON.

Check that accelerator pedal position 2 AD/C is greater than 4.8 V

Move on to Step 5
13

Replace the accelerator pedal
