THE ARMING ROD MUST BE REMOVED AND REFITTED IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROCEDURE DESCRIBED BELOW.
The only way to stop accidental activation of the pyrotechnic device is to remove the arming rod.
This procedure should therefore be carried out whenever repair work on the mechanics or body of the car could cause accidental activation of the device. The absence of the arming rod is also the essential safety condition which is a prerequisite to removing, handling and refitting the belt winder-pretensioner assembly.
The arming rod must ALWAYS be fitted ONLY WITH THE BELT WINDER-PRETENSIONER ASSEMBLY FITTED TO THE CAR, in order to prevent possible injury to personnel.
NOTE The arming rod consists of an inner bracket and an outer arming bracket which enable the winder-pretensioner assembly to be attached more securely to the central pillar.
