  1. Raise the caulking of the steering box links.
  2. Slacken the steering box links and remove them.

  • Remove the rack and pinion bush.

Reassembly

  • Assemble the rack and pinion bush using the tool

  1. Tighten the steering box links.
  2. Caulk the end of the ball pin housing.

Note: The ball pin of the steering box links must be free to turn in all directions without excessive stiffness and without falling under its own weight.

  • Assemble the steering box right boot (refer to Op. 4120A30 Steering box BOOT (one) lh or rh - Repl. on bench).

Carefully check the steering box boots for holes or tears, if so, change them.

  • Fill the steering box with grease

  • Assemble the steering box left boot (refer to Op. 4120A30 Steering box BOOT (one) lh or rh - Repl. on bench).
  • Remove the steering box from the vice.

  • Refer to Op. 4120A20 STEERING BOX, removed - Disassembly and reassembly - Washing, checking and part Replacement
